The facts about breast cancer
More than 2 million women living in the United States have been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer.
This year, an estimated 182,500 women and 2,000 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.
About 40,500 women and 450 men will die of breast cancer this year.
Breast cancer is the leading cancer among American women and is second only to lung cancer in cancer deaths.
When breast cancer is confined to the breast, the five-year survival rate is more than 95 percent.

Komen estimates that more than 1 million people participated in its 2007 races.The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Survivor Recognition Program celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battles with the disease. RE/MAX shares sponsorship with Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, a nonprofit volunteer organization.RE/MAX contributes pink survivor T-shirts and caps, as well as "In celebration of" and "In memory of" back signs and program banners for every race. RE/MAX Associates who are breast cancer survivors or who otherwise have been affected by the disease are encouraged to solicit pledges for their own participation. Corporate representatives host breast cancer survivor recognition tents at the more than 100 events in the United States.
RE/MAX launched a unique program early in 2007 exclusive to RE/MAX Sales Associates that allows agents to designate homes as Sold for the Cure properties in support of Komen for the Cure. The pink "RE/MAX in support of Komen for the Cure" banner that sits atop a RE/MAX yard sign means that Komen will receive a donation from the RE/MAX agent when that property sells.
